Tell your proposal story ... told by Ashley!
One day AJ suggested that he and I go to the beach for a get a way weekend. I did not oppose because AJ rarely plans events on his own and I for one was in need of a beach weekend (not that I was becoming pale or anything). I did not think much of it because he said his parents would be coming up on Saturday. It seemed like a normal weekend at the beach.
We traveled to Boca Grande, which has become such a huge part of our hearts and our relationship. You cross the bridge and your cares are gone, the water is immaculate every time, the pelicans are every where and you love life more than ever. We cooked dinner as we usually do and decided to go out on the balcony and just look at the stars. I am obsessed with the stars and just thought he was being so nice to do this with me.
The next morning AJ and I awoke, gathered our belonging to head to the boat for a day on the sea and then AJ comes downstairs and says his parents are not coming for the weekend. I still did not think too much of it. AJ mentioned one of them "had too much to drink the night before." I should have known something was up, however I am, in fact, one of the most oblivious people walking the earth right now.
We had a fabulous day on the water. Not a cloud in the sky, crystal clear water, sun kissing our skin. The day was perfect. AJ even seemed normal, in fact, he even through out some of his "smart ass" remarks, so therefore, I was completely in the blue.
We returned to the condo and decided to get ready for dinner at our favorite restaurant, The Temptation! Still, I thought nothing, this is something we ritually do. AJ took the pup for a walk, came back, got ready and said that we should go and check on the boat and then go and watch the sunset.
After checking on the boat we heading to a spot the family always goes to watch the sunset. It is off a dock that leads to the ocean. It is gorgeous. He and I are standing on the dock awaiting the sun to set and AJ ask if I would like to walk out on the sand to have "a closer look" I agree. While walking I find myself walking alone and do not feel AJs presence around me. I all the sudden hear him say my name and I turn around and there ......
I find AJ on one knee!! We both began to cry and he began to talk. I will not go into detail of what was said, but it was perfect. Come to find out AJ and Sergeant (our pup) had come to the beach earlier and left a rose and champagne for us. Pup is such a romantic!!! It was perfect. I truly do have a fairly tale engagement story.
We later (after talking on the phone with family and friends) went off to our dinner. We ate, drank and agreed to be married :)
Wasn't that a romantic story? We'd love to share your engagement story!
Enjoy the video of them starting their lives together! Congratulations!
